In the majority of design processes the most involved stakeholders are not part of the process. This causes several problems, such as a lack of support for the developed plans, a missed chance to include other ideas, and a lengthy process. The Design Charrette offers a methodology in which all stakeholders works together on a complicated design task. During the charrette different exercises are used to stimulate interaction, to overcome barriers and build support. Out of these, often tactile, processes original, coherent and supported designs emerge. The Design Charrette lasts between two and seven days hence minimise the time consumed for the design process. CITTAIDEALE has designed, organised and conducted around 30 Design Charrettes in many different countries. Not withstanding cultural differences, the outcome of the design process is always similar: large enthusiasm amongst the participants, a supported innovative design solution and a build-up social structure. CITTAIDEALE recently lead Design Charrettes in Minamisoma, Leeuwarden, Sea Lake, Auckland and Bendigo.
